EDMUS 4.1: What's new?

The main new features in EDMUS 4.1 are the new Diagnosis panel, and major improvements in the Synopsis.

Other improvements and fixes

  • Import: it is not possible any more to import data from an EDMUS database with the same Center ID as the recipient database (this could lead to database corruption). import_centerid
  • Background: if the number entered in the "Size of sibship" field is lower than the number of lines in the "Sibship" list, it is automatically fixed. However, it may be higher (you may know the size of the sibship, but not have details on every member), or empty. A similar logic applies to the "Number of children", "Boys" and "Girls" fields. sibship
  • Neurological Episodes: if all Neurological Episodes of a patient are deleted, the "Age at onset" field is now erased at once. age_at_onset
  • Clinical Assessments: if a Functional Systems score is >0, a red bullet is displayed in the "General" tab and to the corresponding tab (Motor 1, Sensory 1, Sphincter, Brainstem 1, Visual, Mental, Other); similarly, if the "Psychogenic component" box is checked, a red bullet is displayed in the "Miscellaneous" tab. fss_bullet
  • Clinical Assessments, Intercurrent diseases: Intercurrent diseases entered in the Clinical Assessments panel now also appear in the "Patients' diseases" list in the Background panel (however, items deleted from the "Patients' diseases" list are not deleted from Intercurrent diseases in the Clinical Assessments panel). intercurrent_bg
  • Clinical Assessments, Protocols: the appearance of a protocol in the popup menu does not require anymore that the protocol has an end date ("To" column) in the Protocols list of the Miscellaneous panel. ca_protocols
  • MRI (Detailed): the "<9" field does not accept the value 9 anymore. mri9
  • Treatments: the status ("Started", "Ongoing", "Stopped") is now translated.

  • Treatments (Symptomatic, Non MS-related): it is now possible to mark a treatment as "Stopped" even if the Onset date and Latest date are the same. tt_stopped
  • Data Update: EDMUS now automatically computes the current Diagnosis (Poser and McDonald classifications), Clinical Phase, date of MS Onset, date of Last clinical follow-up, etc. before printing a Synopsis or showing a Graph, and before exporting patient data ("Detailed Export" or "EDMUS Export").
  • Encodings for Export: this item has been added to the Tools menu. It presents a list of numerical codes used in EDMUS export files (for the diagnosis, MS course etc.). encodings_for_export
  • Help: new Help buttons have been added, and the Help content has been increased and improved. help
  • Help: the content of Help windows can now be saved (as a text file). help_save
  • Detailed Search: new criterion "The presence or absence of intercurrent diseases was recorded at least once". search_ic
  • Detailed Search: the "Familial MS (confirmed by neurologist)" criterion has been changed to "Familial MS (confirmed by neurologist or not)".
  • Detailed Search: the Diagnosis search criteria have been adapted to reflect the new Diagnosis panel.
  • Detailed Search: a new "Adverse Events" tab has been added. search_ae

  • Detailed Export: the "Adverse Events", "Other Exams" and "Diagnosis" files have been improved.
  • Import of EDMUS version 2 databases: the import of "Other MS cases in the family" has been fixed.
