EDMUS 4.1: What's new?
The main new features in EDMUS 4.1 are the new Diagnosis panel, and major improvements in the Synopsis.
The new Diagnosis panel
The Diagnosis panel presents the MS diagnosis according to Poser and McDonald classifications, together with the clinical and paraclinical criteria onto which the diagnosis is based, and the dates at which these criteria became positive.
(This panel replaces the less detailed and less accessible Diagnosis window, available in previous versions of EDMUS 3 and 4, through a button in the Personal Data panel).
The MS diagnosis according to Poser and McDonald classifications, and the current MS course, are automatically generated by the EDMUS software.
The diagnosis algorithms for the Paty, Barkhof and McDonald criteria have been improved in EDMUS 4.1, particularly to take into account the revised McDonald criteria.
The "Diagnosis" panel
The user can intervene at two levels:
- "Clinical: 2 or more sites" checkbox: EDMUS is unable to detect whether two clinical lesions affect different sites (unless they affect the neuraxis and the optic nerve). This may lead to false negatives for the "Space dissemination" criterion of the McDonald classification. Thus, the "Clinical: 2 or more sites" checkbox was added. The user can check this box to indicate that clinical lesions affect different sites, and this is taken into account by the software in the determination of the diagnosis.
- "Your opinion" field: if the diagnosis as determined by EDMUS seems incorrect, the user can specify his/her own diagnosis (according to Poser and McDonald criteria).
